About the Performance Plus Program
At its core, The Performance Plus Program is for kids who are already playing regularly, entering Red/Orange/Green Hot Shots events, and want coaching that matches that ambition.
This pathway still sits within the Hot Shots ecosystem (using modified balls and court sizes where appropriate) but adds layers of competitive context and developmental training:
- Elevated coaching focus:
Private and squad coaching sessions emphasise technical refinement, tactical understanding, and consistency of stroke production—more than just “skills in drills”, but translating those skills into matches and point play. - Internal competition and tournament experience:
Players aren’t just practicing skills; they’re applying them in structured competitions and in-house tournaments. That competitive environment helps players learn how to cope with match pressure, make real tactical decisions, and develop a competitive instinct. - Athlete development:
Strength and conditioning sessions are woven in to build fitness that supports tennis at higher intensity—agility, speed, endurance and motor control—all crucial for players who want to perform well in competitive matches.
Performance Plus isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s tiered by age and playing level, with specific stages (Red+, Orange+, Green+) that align with a child’s experience and readiness to compete. Requirements like minimum playing experience and participation in competitive ball events ensure the program stays challenging and appropriate for each stage.
Put another way, if the Participation pathway is about learning tennis and loving the game, Performance Plus is about shaping competitors—players who can handle structured training, internal competition, and physical preparation with the goal of playing at club level and beyond.
